Food Pantry

Hours of Operation & Location

The Pantry is open the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month from 4 p.m.-6 p.m.
The PGO Food Pantry serves all of New Kent County and upper James City County.

We are located at 20051 Tabernacle Rd., Barhamsville, VA 23011
behind Tabernacle CCC.
Purpose
There is growing need in our community for those struggling to provide for themselves and their families.
Open since July of 2009, we serve families living slightly above and below the poverty lines. We also provide food to families and individuals who have lost their jobs, are seasonally employed, or need assistance during these times of hardship.
Everyone who comes receives food on the first visit. For subsequent visits the client must provide proof of income and residency. If living outside our service area, we work to refer the client to a food pantry operation in their area for the future.
How Can I Help?
Food Products
You may always donate non-perishable canned goods, boxed items, paper products and pet items. You may drop off items on Saturdays at Grace Village Thrift located at 15730 Pocahontas Trail, Lanexa or by contacting the PGO Office at
(757)-741-5070.

Financially
As good stewards of the gifts we receive, we are able to buy items in bulk through our affiliation with Feed More in Richmond, VA.

2025 holds the promise of the highly anticipated new Food Pantry building finally becoming a reality! The contract is signed, the land is being cleared, and the opening date is projected for late summer/early fall of this year.
Stay tuned for more information about our Capital Campaign to raise the additional $650,000 needed to go into the new building DEBT FREE.
Food is the most critical service item that we offer to our community neighbors. It gives them the sustenance to trudge forward during tough periods of life. Over 130,000 pounds of food was distributed through our Food Pantry in 2024, 10 home repairs were made, and 7 automobiles were repaired for those in our service area of New Kent and upper James City Counties. These numbers represent a multitude of hope given to those who had nowhere else to turn for help.
2025 is a great time for you to be a “cause for change” in this community through your volunteerism and financial giving to our non-profit. Become involved today!

Send your tax deductible donations for the purchase of food or to contribute to our Building Fund to PGO, P.O. Box 224, Barhamsville, VA 23011.
